Walletguide GmbH (“Walletguide”, "us", "we", or "our") use cookies on all Walletguide websites and services (jointly “Websites"). For the purposes of this policy (“Policy”), the term “Websites”, shall refer collectively to walletguide.com as well as the other websites that Walletguide operates and that link to this policy. By using the Websites, you consent to the use of cookies.

This Policy explains what cookies are, how we use cookies, how third-parties we may partner with may use cookies on the Websites, your choices regarding cookies and further information about cookies.

What are cookies

Cookies are small pieces of text sent by your web browser by a website you visit. A cookie file is stored in your web browser and allows the Websites or a third-party to recognize you and make your next visit easier and the Websites more useful to you.

Cookies can be "session" or "persistent" cookies and they can be “first-party” or “third-party”.

Session cookies: "A session cookie, also known as an in-memory cookie or transient cookie, exists only in temporary memory while the user navigates the website.[18] Web browsers normally delete session cookies when the user closes the browser.[19] Unlike other cookies, session cookies do not have an expiration date assigned to them, which is how the browser knows to treat them as session cookies." (Source: Wikipedia)

Persistent cookies: "Instead of expiring when the web browser is closed as session cookies do, a persistent cookie expires at a specific date or after a specific length of time. This means that, for the cookie's entire lifespan (which can be as long or as short as its creators want), its information will be transmitted to the server every time the user visits the website that it belongs to, or every time the user views a resource belonging to that website from another website (such as an advertisement)." (Source: Wikipedia)

First-party cookies: "Normally, a cookie's domain attribute will match the domain that is shown in the web browser's address bar. This is called a first-party cookie." (Source: Wikipedia)

Third-party cookies: "A third-party cookie belongs to a domain different from the one shown in the address bar. This sort of cookie typically appears when web pages feature content from external websites, such as banner advertisements. This opens up the potential for tracking the user's browsing history, and is often used by advertisers in an effort to serve relevant advertisements to each user." (Source: Wikipedia)

Beside the technical types of cookies, each cookie falls within one of the four following categories:

Strictly necessary cookies: "These cookies are essential in order to enable you to move around the website and use its features, such as accessing secure areas of the website. Without these cookies services you have asked for, like shopping baskets or e-billing, cannot be provided." (Source: ICC)

Performance cookies: "These cookies collect information about how visitors use a website, for instance which pages visitors go to most often, and if they get error messages from web pages. These cookies don’t collect information that identifies a visitor. All information these cookies collect is aggregated and therefore anonymous. It is only used to improve how a website works." (Source: ICC)

Functionality cookies: "These cookies allow the website to remember choices you make (such as your user name, language or the region you are in) and provide enhanced, more personal features. For instance, a website may be able to provide you with local weather reports or traffic news by storing in a cookie the region in which you are currently located. These cookies can also be used to remember changes you have made to text size, fonts and other parts of web pages that you can customise. They may also be used to provide services you have asked for such as watching a video or commenting on a blog. The information these cookies collect may be anonymised and they cannot track your browsing activity on other websites." (Source: ICC)

Targeting or advertising cookies: "These cookies are used to deliver adverts more relevant to you and your interests They are also used to limit the number of times you see an advertisement as well as help measure the effectiveness of the advertising campaigns. They are usually placed by advertising networks with the website operator’s permission. They remember that you have visited a website and this information is shared with other organisations such as advertisers. Quite often targeting or advertising cookies will be linked to site functionality provided by the other organisation." (Source: ICC)
